A quick look at the workshop!

There’s a lot that goes into turning a stone you can find on the beach into a necklace or piece or jewelry. From safety equipment to tools you’ll need along the way, it’s been a journey in itself collecting and learning lapidary tool and techniques. Take a look and see!

Be safe and always have proper equipment for you health!

  • Mask or Respirator rated for Silica Dust

  • Eye Protection

  • Ear Protection

Here’s what you saw and was mentioned in the video:

  • 6” Cabking - I use 3 extra wheels and have an additional arm from what it normally comes with.

    • Saw Attachment - Excellent tool to take away the need for a trim saw

    • Nova Wheels- Cabkings come with ‘Rez’ wheels but I find the ‘Nova’ brand wheels are the best you can get!

  • Hi-Tech Diamond 6” Flat Lap - Great option for a more affordable lapidary shop and makes beautiful pieces

  • Griffon Glass Edger- This was briefly viewed as the bright red box near my water igloo. It is excellent for making grooves and inlay in stone to set wire. You can see this in many of my necklaces.

  • Dremmel- Not mentioned or viewed in the video, but an essential tool! Load up on diamond bits and don’t be afraid to wear them out!

I finished up a few of those rough cabochons from the video for you guys. For our next post, maybe you can join me in learning how shape and polishing those cabs?

Thank you so much for joining me today and seeing where the work happens!
