Meet Robbie and Fenn!

Hello everyone and welcome to Fenn and Fickle!

Now, I know you have a few questions so we’ll cover the obvious one first; my name is Robbie and Fenn is my adorable Siamese cat. We are both very happy you could visit us today!

Down to the basics then! Being raised on the Central Coast of California, there is such an amazing amount of rocks to collect and so many gorgeous beaches to visit. Fenn is quite the adventurous feline, join on the occasional hike and more than happy to be toted around in his backpack. Much of the material we work on here I collected myself. My rock-hounding is what got me started on this path and even now it doesn’t matter what I’m making, I just love working on rocks!

My progression went as one might expect from ‘rockhound’ to polishing rocks in a tumbler and then one day purchasing my first Hi-Tech Diamond 6” Flat Lap. Not long after I had a cheap tile saw and I was cutting and cabbing everything I could get my hands on. Often to my own disappoint as beautiful pieces crumbled away into hard learned lessons, all in the pursuit of learning and fine tuning my lapidary techniques. Eventually, the options just weren’t enough so I began researching and learning soldering and silversmithing from every source I could get my hands on.
